Rory Clarke
IAS Founder and Coach: Rory Clarke
Rory played semi-professional soccer in high school in Cape Town. He started with his club, Tramway FC, when he was 10 and worked his way into the First team at age 17. He played for the state as a schoolboy and later as an adult. By the time he was 28 he ran out of knees and had to give up competitive soccer. Since arriving in the Northwest in 1993, he played on various men’s teams for a few years and after two more surgeries gave up to coach men’s and youth teams.
With his passion for soccer intact, he has coached on Mercer Island since 1995. Rory was a member of the Mercer Island Youth Soccer Club board. His wife is looking forward to his retirement from soccer, if it ever happens.
